Akershus Birthday Cupcake

While traveling to Disney World with friends earlier this year, I had the opportunity to organize an impromptu first birthday party for the baby of the group.  She happened to turn one while we were there on vacation.  That day, several local friends and family joined us for some time in the parks. A few of us made it over to Epcot early for a planned character breakfast at Akershus.

One of the teenagers in the group was also celebrating a birthday this trip.  I am lead to believe you may celebrate your birthday up to 180 days before or 180 days after the actual date while on vacation at Disney World.  So, we anticipated the birthday for the teenager by a few weeks.  I noted the birthday on the reservation as well as picking up a Happy Birthday button for her.  We had a lovely surprise at breakfast.

Realizing that the baby did not make it to the breakfast, I asked our server if it would be possible to get a second cupcake to take home for her birthday.  She was great!  Not only did she bring us a birthday cupcake all boxed up and ready to go, she also brought a birthday card signed by all of the princesses at Akershus that morning.  When we got back to our room, I also found a candle in the package.

Later that day, after lunch, we all gathered in the living room to sing happy birthday to the baby.  She grinned at us and clapped. Soon enough, she blew out her first candle. Then she attacked her cupcake by going for the classic smash into frosting.  How fun!
