We have enjoyed just about every resort, both on property (Disney hotels) and off property (everything else) in our visits to Walt Disney World.  They are all different and I think knowing what to expect helps set expectations for any given trip.  This post will grow over time to include a very high level overview of each of the resorts. Let’s start small, with two of my favorite resorts.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the two resorts at Disney World that I consider a destination all by itself.  Where else can you go and watch wildlife straight from the African Savannah meander by while sitting on a private balcony?  I also really enjoy all of the artwork on exhibit in both of the Animal Kingdom Lodge locations, Jambo House and Kidani Village.

Port Orleans Riverside is often considered a slightly inferior version of its smaller sister, Port Orleans French Quarter.  I don’t know why, as I actually prefer Riverside in some ways.  Here’s a video from a quiet walk around the resort one morning in April of 2015.  It is a lovely location.  If I was looking for a place to take some nice quality family photos in Disney World, this would be one of the first places I considered.
